Hello, readers.
This is a personal message from the owner and one-person show behind Brain Lag, Catherine Fitzsimmons. I’ve just received news that is going to impact the release schedule for Brain Lag.
In short, I have cancer. While it is not an aggressive form of cancer, I will be undergoing radiation therapy this summer. (If you’re interested, more details about my diagnosis/history are available on a personal blog post I wrote.) This will significantly affect my ability to work and, as a result, means that I will have to push back upcoming book releases.
The Fragrance of Orchids and Other Stories and Altaterrawill still be releasing on time, and I fully intend to hold the planned launch party for The Fragrance of Orchids at Bakka-Phoenix Books in Toronto on July 15. However, I unfortunately have to cancel my trip to Gen Con, and all books scheduled to release after those two will be delayed. I don’t know yet how the treatment is going to affect me, so I cannot give exact changes, but I expect releases to be delayed at least two months from the original scheduled date. I will of course be updating this website and the Brain Lag social media as soon as I have any definitive information.
I sincerely regret having to make this decision and I appreciate your patience through this time. I love producing these books and eagerly look forward to the day I can continue to do so with my full capabilities. Rest assured, all books will be coming and they will be published to the quality that people have come to expect from Brain Lag.
