NEW BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT: Space Opera Sequel Inspired By Greek Mythology Launches February 2024

An epic tale of gods in space, uncommonly strong gladiators, mystical peacekeepers, and a looming galactic war continues in February 2024 with the upcoming release of Blood of Gods by Simon A. G. Spencer.

This second book of Spencer’s Birthright series picks up where the first book, Shadows of Slavery, left off, with conflict between two of the major galactic powers averted and their eyes instead turned to the cruelty of the constantly expanding Bythos Empire. Told through several unique characters, Blood of Gods heightens the tension of the first book, whether it is a Deus investigating what should have been an impossible intrusion into the galaxy, an ambitious lord desperate to make his mark through any means necessary, or a half-Deus former slave fleeing from mysterious assassins.

Blood of Gods will release February 9, 2024 in trade paperback (392 pages, ISBN 978-1-998795-15-4, $25.99 CAD) and ebook (ISBN 978-1-998795-16-1, $4.99) formats and will shortly be available for preorder through bookstores everywhere. In partnership with Toronto Lit Up, an initiative of the Toronto International Festival of Authors and Toronto Arts Council to promote local authors, a launch party will be held on Saturday, February 10 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The author and publisher will be in attendance and will feature readings, signings, and discussion of the book and series. The event will be free and open to the public. More details will be coming soon.

Blood of Gods is Milton, Ontario SFF publisher Brain Lag’s 54th signed title. It joins 47 currently released books from the publisher, including Spencer’s previous novels, Shadows of Slavery and the standalone urban fantasy Soul, Light, and Wings, and Brain Lag’s 10th anniversary anthology The Light Between Stars, in which Spencer’s story “Awakening” closes the volume.
