The Grey Witch Adventures continue today with the release of the second book in the series, Virtues of Skin.
In this action-packed, sexy urban fantasy by Joe Weinberg, witch AJ Grey continues keeping the average human oblivious of the magical world all around them with the use of magical tattoos in her skin giving her superhuman abilities. Now, however, someone is targeting the specific type of magic she, and few others, specialize in, and if she doesn’t find the culprit, she’ll be their next victim.
Drawing from many different mythos, Weinberg has turned the familiar confines of the American Midwest into a magical world populated with beings of legend from across the world. On Saturday, May 9, publisher Brain Lag held a virtual launch party in which Weinberg discussed his inspirations, writing process, and more, which is now available to view on YouTube.
Virtues of Skin is now available to order through all major and independent bookstores in trade paperback (ISBN 978-1-998795-28-4, $19.99 USD, 280 pages) and ebook (ISBN 978-1-998795-29-1, $7.99) formats. New readers can also find the first book in the series, 2022’s Between Death and a Hard Place, through preferred retailers.
Weinberg is a compulsive writer who has produced supplement books for the Vampire: the Masquerade and Werewolf: the Apocalypse table top game systems and articles for magazines and academic publications in addition to novels. When not reading or writing, Weinberg plays table top RPGs, teaches whenever possible, and tries to live with the aspects of his personality that are both fundamental parts of him and parts that he had never put into words before, such as genderfluid and autistic.
Virtues of Skin is Brain Lag’s 59th title and eleventh urban fantasy novel. It is the publisher’s second release of 2026.
